The Jeff & Sherry Hwang Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students worldwide pursuing careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) – fields essential to today’s business landscape.
The foundation also provides direct financial aid and relief to individuals affected by disasters both nationally and internationally, and offers financial assistance to enhance lives and inspire positive change.
Jeff and Sherry Hwang, both driven by the promise of the American Dream, met at Georgia State University after immigrating from Taiwan in 1984.
Jeff, a recent business graduate from Taiwan, came to the United States to pursue a master’s degree in Information Technology to improve his career prospects.
Sherry, the first-born daughter of a World War II veteran, got accepted to Georgia State’s master program in Accounting and came to the states to seek opportunity after hearing rumors that the U.S. roads were paved with gold.
After marrying in 1987, they faced cultural and professional barriers while building their careers in Washington, DC. In 1999, after years in the tech industry, Jeff took a bold step and founded Pyramid Systems, with a vision to create a company that prioritized its people and clients.
Sherry soon joined as a majority owner, securing Pyramid’s first contract with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Her dedication to delivering exceptional service fueled the company’s growth and solidified its reputation.
Today, Sherry and Jeff have achieved the American Dream and are committed to helping others do the same.
The Jeff and Sherry Hwang Foundation has created scholarships at the university level to support students in the STEM fields.
We believe this is crucial for fostering innovation and advancing technology. By investing in education, we empower future leaders, enhance economic growth, and promote diversity in critical industries.
We recognizes the importance of supporting both our global and local communities, particularly in response to natural disasters beyond their control.
The foundation supports multiple disaster relief organizations such as Tzu Chi Foundation and the American Red Cross.
